Owning a business is risky. I've been managing Wag More Pet Care Service full time for over 10 years. It has had its share of dips and turns, but in the long run, it has provided a stable source of income for me. While enjoying a meaningful career, I've paid off several cars, supported 2 large cats and have mortgaged a home, all while exclusively managing my pet sitting business. So I've been fortunate.

There is a sense of financial insecurity for most everyone due to corona virus, which has changed the way we maneuver in the world. Many folks have lost their jobs and businesses are slowly going under as hands are tied, due to lock down.
My business is no different, except that I have several dog walking clients that are still using my services during this time. I'm very fortunate. I know of many pet sitting services that have gone from a thriving $100K+ service to zero business in a matter of days. .
In order for my modest Wag More Pet Care service to succeed, I rely on both regular daily dog walking contracts and vacation visits & over nights. If vacation service goes away, I cannot make ends meet on dog walking income alone and visa versa.

Because I've been fortunate with my finances, I should be OK as long as a recession, or worse, a depression is not in store, as some experts are predicting. When finances are tight, vacation service is a non-essential that tends to get cut. Folks don't vacation as much when they fear losing their home, or worse.
For lack of vacation business, I'm using my time to get more organized and catch up on tasks that I've put off due to being extremely busy with my pet service for the past few years. One of these tasks is switching to Wix for my website. It is much more intuitive than my previous platform.
Depending upon how long the lock down continues, I may be looking for other work, if and when pet service as a full time business becomes untenable.
I hope that is not the case. I absolutely love caring or all of my pups, big and small. It has been an all encompassing endeavor for over ten years. I hope to continue serving in this manner for another 10+.
